Employees:
- calmly proceed to the nearest exit and evacuate the building
- go to your branch gathering post in the parking lot
- keep guests and visitors from unsafely leaving the gathering area
- immediately report to department attendance taker
- remain in branch gathering area until ”all clear” signal is given by the Superintendent
Managers:
- in addition to following the basic safety instructions above,
- provide leadership for swift, orderly evacuation, insist on 100% compliance
- check restrooms and closets to ensure complete evacuation
- keep guests and visitors from unsafely leaving the gathering area
- assist attendance takers with the roll process
- remain in branch gathering area until “all clear” signal is given by the Superintendent
- ensure safe and orderly re-entry into the building
Facilities and Maintenance Group:
- convene at the fire alarm panel to determine validity of alarm
- evaluate soundness/safety of building reentry
- be available to discuss building layout/location of emergency with First Responders
- inform Command post staff once building is safe for reentry.
- NOTE: Custodial staff are to evacuate and await radio instruction.
Executive Staff (Cabinet):
- safely and calmly evacuate the building when the fire alarm is sounded
- ensure others are evacuating; provide leadership to ensure 100% compliance
- proceed to branch Command post
- discuss current building status with Facilities/Building Maintenance
- collect attendance records and confirm that all SCCOE staff are accounted for
Superintendent issues an “all clear” signal when safe to re-enter the building
